Born in 1970 in Mashhad, A Physician with systemic approach to health and disease, started the integrative medicine firstly with phytotherapy, naturopathy, and energy medicine but after inflowing in the first academic PhD course of Persian medicine in 2007 in Tehran University he could extend this systemic approach more widely and deeply concerning historical manuscripts and ancient teachings of sage philosopher-physicians in Persian culture and civilization. He personally prefers to use his self-created term of “Hikmat-based medicine” instead of terms like Unani medicine, Arabic medicine, Islamic medicine or even Persian medicine. He presented some philosophical and empirical dimensions of corporeal spirits in the human heart and brain in his PhD thesis in 2013 with respect to his main concentration in the field of mind-body medicine. His main attention in medical practice involves with psycho-neurological and autoimmune disorders through a psychosomatic approach. He also corrected, translated, and edited more than 15 manuscripts in the field of “Hikmat-based medicine” and believes that the first pre-requisite for correcting, editing, or translating historical medical manuscripts is a systemic attitude which converges the literal, linguistic, philosophical, empirical, and cultural dimensions of them. Currently he teaches researches and practices in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.

Dr. Samad EJ GOLZARI
Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine; Fellowship of Anesthesia in Thoracic Surgery, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Tabriz, Iran
Email: dr.golzarihotmail.com
Dr. Samad EJ Golzari is an associate professor of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Tabriz, Iran. He is an internationally award winning scholar for his extensive research and publications in the fields of Anesthesiology and History of Medicine. Rather than focusing purely and solely on the medical sciences inherited from ancient scholars, in his research, he tries to unearth the delicate yet central relation between this ancient knowledge and modern medicine. His endeavor has shed light on the rediscovery of long-forgotten medical sciences and knowledge, reintroducing them to the modern medicine practitioners and clinicians. His studies on Al-Akhawayni has revealed magnificent opinions of this Persian scholar on pulse, Elephantiasis, sleep paralysis, infertility, tracheostomy etc. Interestingly, some of his studies uncover early and probably first descriptions of some medical conditions introduced by Persian scholars. For instance, early or probably first descriptions of Grisel's syndrome by Al-Akhawayni and supraventricular tachycardia by Bahā'al-Dawlah Razi (d. 1508 CE). His comprehensive studies on the contributions of Persian Scholars to the development and modification of medical and surgical techniques have reintroduced ancient Persian scholars and their unique concepts to the world and those who might use these long-forgotten pearls of knowledge in their daily practice.
