The results of Reviewing Submitted Abstracts to the Congress

Scientific secretary of the 2nd Congress on History of Medicine in Iran and Islam released the accepted papers to present in the congress after reviewing submitted abstracts to the congress.
Dr. Arman Zargaran, the scientific secretary of the congress said 100 presentations are accepted to be presented among 146 submitted abstracts, 57 and 43 presentations for oral and poster presentations, respectively. He also mentioned that there was one presentation as oral and one presentation as poster as maximum accepted papers for each person.
The persons who their abstracts are accepted should complete their registrations from September 1,2019 to September 22,2019 . If not, their presentations would be omitted from the program of the congress.
Also, the persons who aim to participate in the congress as free participants (without presenting papers) should be registered from September 1, 2019 to September 22,2019.

Holding 2th Scientific Committee Meeting of the 2nd International Congress on Medical History in Iran and Islam

Following the 3rd Pre-Conference hosted by the Office of Medical History Studies of Iran in Shiraz on June 30th, 2019, members of the Scientific Committee of the 2nd International Conference on the History of Medicine in Iran and Islam gathered at the Museum and Documentation Center of Nourani-Wesal, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. After visiting the center, a meeting was convened during which a number of guest speakers delivered a few words. Afterward, dinner was served with the presence of guests and professors at the Welfare Center of Shiraz University.

15th Scientific Meeting of the History of Medicine in Iran and Islam

The 3rd Pre-Conference of the 2nd International Conference on the History of Medicine in Iran and Islam, also considered as the 15th Scientific Meeting of the History of Medicine in Iran and Islam, was hosted on June 30th, 2019. Held by the Office of Medical History Studies of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (SUMS) with contribution by SUMS Office of Vice-Chancellor for Research, this event saw the presence of prominent Iranian professors of medical history and members of the scientific committee of the conference. At the opening ceremony of the program, Dr. Mehdizadeh, Senior Deputy of the Office of Medical History Studies, delivered the welcome note, briefly introducing the important role of Shiraz and SUMS School of Medicine in the country’s medical history. He was followed byDr. Zargaran, the Scientific Secretary and Sonsultant for International Affairs at the Iranian Medical Office, the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. Dr. Zargaran presented a report on the status of the 2nd International Conference on the History of Medicine in Iran and Islam, highlighting the importance of these meetings in promoting the scientific field of medical history and creating opportunities for the interaction of researchers from across the country. He also emphasized the need to solve the problems of this field, such as attracting Ph.D. students in medical history  as well as encouraging and motivating students of medical history in Shiraz due to the high scientific points of this particular field in this city. After the opening, scientific meetings continued at two separate events, with the presentation of scientific lectures and discussions around them by professors from different Iranian universities and scientific centers. Notably, a number of medical history students from various medical universities were also guests at this scientific meeting.

Change of the date of the conference

Following appointment of the scientific committee of the conference, Dr. Najafgholi Habibi met Dr. Arman Zargaran (the scientific secretary of the conference) and Dr. Sadeghi (the head of the Institute for the History of Science) and they changed conference date to December 26-29, 2019. Moreover, Institute of History of Science of Tehran University is hosting a pre-conference seminar on the previous conference date on March 7, 2018.

Extended deadline for submitting Abstracts

The head of the secretariat of the2nd International Congress on the History of Medicine in Iran and Islam stated that the deadline for Submitiy Abstracts to the congress is extended until August 6, 2019.

Holding the Scientific Committee Meeting of the 2nd International Conference on Medical History in Iran and Islam

The Scientific Committee meeting of the 2nd International Conference on the History of Medicine in Islam and Iran was held at the school of Persian Medicine, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. At the meeting, Dr. Habibi, the Secretary General of the Conference, and the scientific committee discussed the main subjects of the conference, as well as international issues and strategies.

The 14th History of Medicine in Iran and Islam Meeting was held

The 14th History of Medicine in Iran and Islam Meeting was held on December 3, 2018 under the Joint Program of the Academy of Medical Sciences; School of Persian Medicine, Tehran University of Medical Sciences; Medical History Research Center, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences; Iranian Branch of the World Association of Pharmaceutical History and UNESCO Chair on the History of Traditional Medicine in Iran. Professors, researchers and students in the field of History of medicine and Traditional medicine in Iran attended the meeting. Professors from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Sharif University of Technology, and Iran Research Institute of Philosophy delivered lectures. The opening speech of the meeting was given by Dr. Mohagheghi, the research assistant of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
Dr. Zargaran informed about the holding of the Second International Conference on the History of Medicine of Islam and Iran and the strong determination of policy-making and scientific centers in the scientific and research movement in this field. He noted Iran as one of the most influential civilizations in the advancement of medical knowledge in the world which should play a more serious role in this field of ​​knowledge.
At the end of the meeting Dr. Shams Ardakani, the secretary of the Hekmat and traditional Islamic medicine group of the Iranian Academy of Medical Sciences, gave the final speech and described the importance of scientific addressing in the field of History of Medicine.

Dr. Arman Zargaran was appointed as scientific secretary of 2nd International Conference on History of Medicine in Iran and Islam.

Dr. Farhadi, the head of 2nd International Conference on Medical History in Islam and Iran, appointed Dr. Arman Zargran, a faculty member and research assistant for the medical history department of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, as scientific secretary of congress on December 11, 2018. He is also the vice president for international affairs of School of Persian Medicine, Tehran University of Medical Sciences and the head of Iranian Branch of World Pharmacy Association.
Following this verdict, Dr. Zargaran selected the members of the scientific committee of the conference, who are among the distinguished faculty members of the medical history, by issuing separate verdicts.
